Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: handful of golden raisins

Method

  1. Cook bacon until crisp; remove and reserve.
  2. Sauté onion and apple in drippings until tender.
  3. Add cabbage, water, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper (and raisins). Bring to a boil.
  4. Cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir bacon back in for final 5 minutes.

  • Vegetarian: Omit bacon; start with olive oil and a pinch of smoked paprika.
  • Gluten-free: Naturally GF.
